The Santa Barbara Amtrak station is located only a few blocks from
Stearns Wharf and the beaches. A short stroll up State Street takes
you under the 101 Freeway into historic Old Town Santa Barbara and
shopping areas. If you want to explore more of Santa Barbara, bike
rentals are available nearby.
The
station had a grand reopening December 18, 1999 to celebrate improvements
to the station. Improvements included historic restoration of the
depot building, seismic upgrading, new railroad platforms, and landscaping
of the entire site. Parking has been added adjacent to the Moreton
Bay Fig Tree and behind the Open Air Bicycle Shop.

The
station is just of Linden Avenue, steps from downtown eateries and
Carpinteria State Beach. You can use Amtrak's
online reservation service, call the number above, or secure
passage from the conductor. Ticket sales and baggage check are not
available at this station. The Carpinteria Station also serves as
an Amtrak Thruway Bus connections to the San Joaquin trains
at Bakersfield.

The
Goleta Station is more a train stop than train station. There are
no facilities but you may purchase tickets from the conductor.
